Math tutoring is on going with our Partners in Education and is available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30  in Room 203.

The week of February 23rd:


Friday: Best of luck to our Academic Decathlon team as they travel to Gwinnett County for the state competition! Our baseball team travels to West Laurens for a 5:30 game. Our soccer teams take on Spencer at the Woodruff Farm Soccer complex. Matches begin at 5:30 for the girls and 7:30 for the boys.

Saturday: Our baseball team travels to Dublin for a game at noon. Our boys soccer team takes on Pacelli at the Woodruff Farm Soccer complex at 3:00.

The Red Cross Blood Drive will be here on Tuesday Feb. 24, any student (over 16), parent, or partner in education is welcome to come and give between 9am to 2pm. Come and give, you will be saving a life! Students sign up with Mr. Jacobson in Room 373, all parents and PIE members will be put in front when they arrive to get them back to work.

SarahBeth and Liz will go on to the state competition on March 14th!  Wish them luck and congratulate these awesome students for doing a fabulous job and for their fine representation of Shaw!

Awards and Achievements for the 2014 - 15 school year:

Shaw’s AWESOME Social Studies department now boasts of four first place winners and two second place winners in this year’s District Social Studies Fair! First place winners from Shaw are Anna Woodham, Kennedie Osbon, Tyler Blake, and the team of Matt Hardy, Dalton Frullaney and Joel Ruguero! Second place winners from Shaw are Sierra Jackson, and the team of Victoria Blackmon, Jai”Vion Thurmond, and Milan Gaines!

Congratulations to a Shawsome FBLA group for an excellent showing at the FBLA Region 6 Leadership Conference at Marion County.  We earned the 2nd place Sweepstakes Award for Region 6. Our chapter earned two membership awards for our chapter.  1st Place for Largest Chapter Membership for Region 6 and Winner of the October Membership Campaign. We had 24 region winners with 14 competitors advancing to state competition. January 2015

Congratulations to SkillsUSA! Shaw students competed at region competition and had great success. Seventeen received medals, and sixteen students finished 1st or 2nd in their competition, making them eligible for state competition. January 2015

Congratulations to Brandi Walton! She passed the 2nd round of Choral All State auditions. We are proud of our “Singing Raider”!

Congratulations to Anderson Peguero and Johnny Walker for placing in their first Poetry Slam competition. They now qualify for the finals! January 2015

99% meets/exceeds on the 2014 State Writing Test for Shaw High School

Congratulations to Hakeem Mustafaa for being named the All Bi-Cty Runner of the Year. Hakeem was also selected to represent Team Georgia South sponsored by Foot Locker. 12/1/14

We would also like to congratulate Cristiana Houston and Ashley Tilson for being selected to the All West-Georgia softball team. Great job ladies. 12/1/14

Please help Shaw congratulate the following students for their recognized success at the Model United Nations competition at CSU during November:

Lauren Ford and Isaac Guest were recognized as a best delegation in the Economic and Social  Council!

Anderson Pegeuro was recognized for his work in the Crisis Summit!

Lauren Ford, Anderson Pegeuro, Charles Boggs, Cassidy Tyler and Yasmin Baldwin were recognized for being Seniors with extended service to the program.

Please join us in congratulating Major Dalponte, Sgt. Major Herring and our ROTC students for winning Best in Parade at the Veteran’s Day Parade in November.

We would like to congratulate Hakeem Mustafaa for his 2nd place finish at the state cross country meet Saturday Nov 7th.

Congratulations to the Competition Cheerleading squad. They finished in the top 4 at regionals so they move on to compete at sectionals.
